SEC is currently seeking a permanent full-time Kitchen Services Cook to join our school staff. Under the supervision and direction of the Kitchen Chef Supervisor, the cook will prepare and cook items in accordance to the kitchen standards. Kitchen Services cooks must make a large quantity of food products for students and staff each day while also ensuring prompt and excellent customer service. Kitchen Services staff are responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen, ensuring that the shelves, fridges, and freezers are stocked, and performing other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Chef Supervisor.

Responsibilities
• Ensure high quality food service
• Ensure promptness, freshness, and quality of all food and place prepped food in desired containers with labels and dates.
• Follow recipes & menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
• Modify recipes to meet the needs and requests of students and staff
• Establish and oversee daily and semi-annual scheduled cleaning duties
• Check freshness of food, rotate stock and discard out-of-date items
• Perform duties as needed to facilitate the culinary service operation
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

Qualifications
• High school diploma required
• Minimum of 1 year experience with various cooking, baking and cutting procedures and methods (grilling, baking, frying, chopping etc.) required;
• Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal food handling laws and regulations;
• Must have Food Handler Certification or obtain as condition of employment
• Must be willing to be certified in First Aid, CPR and any other certifications required for the job
• Able to carry, lift or unload packages that weigh 30-40 pounds;
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures;
• Professional, responsible, positive work attitude and excellent customer service skills;
• Excellent time management and decision-making skills;
• Ability to multi task with minimal supervision;
• Ability to work independently as well as be an integral member of a highly focused and results driven team;
• Satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Abuse Check

• May be exposed to hazardous substances and/or bodily fluids
• Fast paced, customer service environment;
• Prolonged standing at cook station;

• May be subject to emotionally charged situations, unpredictable or unstable conditions and frequent or rapid changes of procedures
• Subject to conflicting demands, priorities, multi-tasking and high-volume workload.
• May be required to work extended hours

Wages
Starting from $19.00 per hour

Schedule
• Sat, Sun, Wed, Thurs, Fri, guaranteed 40 hours per week
• Hours of work 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
